The goals for the six climbers during the summer were to ascend five classic routes in the Bugaboos Provincial Park, allowing the team to experience large alpine objectives in an overseas alpine arena. The Bugaboo Provincial Park lies within the Purcell Mountains, an area west of the Canadian Rocky Mountains in southeastern British Columbia. It is alpine in character consisting of a cluster of high granite spires with four main summits: Bugaboo, Snowpatch, Pigeon Spires and the Howser Towers, alongside other minor peaks, and provides moderate mountaineering objectives within a large granite massif form. In addition to funding provided by the Exploration Board this expedition was supported by the Old Centralians' Trust.
